Born and raised in Toronto, a veritable food mecca, Zara likes to grow food, talk about it, move it around, buy it, sell it, and most of all eat and appreciate the edible. It has become obvious that she knows very very little about food, and so, shares with you what is learned along the way. She has oft been labeled a mile wide and an inch deep, a jack of all trades and master of none. To this she says “bring it on! I want to learn! The plan…to be well versed in at least one thing…” Over the past little while she has discovered that celebrating the food we eat is just as important as the nutritional components of eating and that a lot of our food system is in dire straits. This site will be an account of the experiences that she has involving food and all that makes food a reality. Farmers, producers, processors, artisans, chefs, friends, food security organizations, educators, writers and consumers are all a part of these stories which will hopefully inspire the reader to think critically and create change in their own lives to support this community and the future of food. Bon appetit!
